When Resolution Life and Asteron Life joined forces, the business needed a workplace that could support a larger team, bring people together, and create a more connected experience for staff, clients and visitors. After undertaking a market search, 45 Queen Street emerged as the preferred location, offering the opportunity to support the next stage of the business within a full-floor Auckland workplace.

Cachet’s role began before the tenant commitment was made. Engaged by the landlord, our team developed a workplace design concept to help support leasing discussions and demonstrate the potential of the floorplate. When Resolution Life reviewed the opportunity, the design concept resonated strongly with their business needs, becoming the foundation for their new workplace with only minor refinements to make it truly their own.

The result is a strong example of design-led leasing in action. What began as a landlord vision to activate and market the floorplate was ultimately selected, refined and delivered for Resolution Life, helping turn workplace potential into a completed environment tailored to their team.

A central driver for Resolution Life and Asteron Life was connection. With more people joining the business, the new workplace needed to support everyday collaboration as well as larger internal gatherings, town halls, client events and all-staff moments. The design responds with a carefully planned balance of front-of-house meeting spaces, internal meeting rooms, quiet rooms and open collaborative zones.

Thoughtful zoning supports different ways of working across the floor. Focused work, team collaboration, client-facing activity and quiet decompression are all considered, creating a workplace that feels calm and ordered while still supporting energy and interaction.

The kitchen and breakout area became an important social anchor. Polished concrete flooring, light timber joinery and a feature tiled splashback create a fresh, contemporary setting for staff connection and informal gatherings.

Commercially, the project demonstrates the value of strategic reuse and targeted intervention. Existing kitchen infrastructure and exposed ceiling elements were retained and extended, helping reduce unnecessary waste without compromising the quality of the finished environment.

One of the most impactful changes was the removal of spandrel panels throughout the floor. The existing building had limited natural light due to the depth and height of the windows, so this intervention created the impression of larger glazing and allowed more light to enter the workspace. The effect significantly improved the overall experience of the floor, making the tenancy feel brighter, more open and more attractive to both staff and visitors.

The design palette brings Resolution Life’s brand identity into the workplace through light, fresh colours, creating an uplifting environment that supports belonging and continuity. It also connects the Auckland workplace to the look and feel of the organisation’s Australian sites, giving the New Zealand team a workplace that feels part of a broader business identity while still responding to its local setting.

The completed workplace delivers more than a new office for Resolution Life and Asteron Life. It demonstrates how early design thinking can unlock the potential of an existing floorplate, while creating a workplace that responds to both commercial objectives and the people who use it every day. For Resolution Life and Asteron Life, the result is a connected Auckland home that supports growth, brand alignment and a stronger workplace experience.
