After 15 years in their current workspace, global logistics expert, Kuehne + Nagel, engaged Cachet to design and deliver a newly refurbished space. The existing fitout no longer reflected how their people worked – or wanted to work. Long, narrow floorplates and a maze of small, enclosed rooms reinforced silos and left teams disconnected leading to a reimagined solution to connect, engage and support their employees.
The design response had reconnection at its heart. By understanding team dynamics and how departments interact, we reshaped the workplace from a series of isolated zones into an open and collaborative environment. The introduction of visual links across the floorplates opened lines of sight and circulation paths, with considered zoning across the departments to encourage natural flow and interaction.
Leaders moved out of isolated offices and into the heart of the workplace, creating new proximity with their teams while retaining access to private space.
A central breakout zone became the social anchor – a hub for informal exchange, supported by a reimagined outdoor terrace that invites connection and interaction.
The material palette reflects a soft aesthetic, combined with New Zealand localisation by drawing on the surrounding landscape and light. Kuehne + Nagel’s brand colours have been reinterpreted into more muted blue tone, while a sculptural ceiling feature captures the essence of sunlight breaking through clouds, echoing the movement of sea and sky.
Furniture was carefully reused where possible – an intentional decision that reflects both environmental responsibility and respect for existing resources. The transformation continues beyond the build, Kuehne + Nagel extending their partnership through Cachet Care to support the space as it evolves.
This is a workplace reimagined – not just for how Kuehne + Nagel works today, but how they want to lead into the future.
