Arthrex Australia engaged Cachet to design and construct a major extension to its existing headquarters in Frenchs Forest, transforming an adjoining floorplate into a highly specialised surgical education and training facility.

More than a traditional workplace fit-out, the project required the creation of an advanced medical training environment, including Australia’s first cadaver laboratory of its kind to achieve NSW Health certification. The new facility needed to integrate seamlessly with Arthrex’s existing workplace while meeting stringent regulatory, technical and operational requirements.

Navigating the approvals process was a significant part of the project. Complex Development Application requirements and evolving NSW Health guidelines introduced additional considerations during the early design and scoping stages. Cachet brought the wider consultant team together from the outset, coordinating architects, engineers, specialist medical consultants and compliance experts through an integrated Design & Construct approach.

Early collaboration allowed technical and regulatory challenges to be addressed as the design developed, reducing project risk while maintaining programme certainty. Specialist services required for the certified cadaver laboratory were carefully coordinated alongside the broader workplace infrastructure to meet Arthrex’s operational requirements and NSW Health certification standards.

At the centre of the facility is the advanced surgical training laboratory, supported by a dedicated didactic training room. Separate surgeon arrival and preparation areas, male and female change facilities and carefully planned support spaces create a considered environment for surgical education and training.

Beyond the specialist medical spaces, the extension incorporates an executive boardroom, welcoming reception, focus rooms, contemporary workstations and office areas. Together, these spaces create an environment that supports surgeons, healthcare professionals and Arthrex’s internal teams while functioning as a seamless extension of the existing workplace.

Technology and building systems were carefully selected to support operational excellence, future flexibility and long-term performance.

The completed facility was officially opened by NSW Member of Parliament Michael Regan and represents a significant milestone for Arthrex Australia. It serves as a flagship education and training centre, bringing specialist clinical capability and contemporary workplace design together under one roof.

Through early collaboration, technical expertise and integrated project delivery, Cachet transformed a complex brief into a highly specialised facility that has established a new benchmark for Arthrex globally.
