When Collective Wellness – owner and operator of the space and parent company of Anytime Fitness – set out to repurpose an existing gym within their workplace, the opportunity extended beyond refurbishment. The brief was to transform a dark, high-energy fitness environment into a calm, functional training hub that could support learning, connection, and collaboration for their internal team.

The existing space presented a clear challenge. Operating as a traditional gym, the basement level was fully sprayed out in black, with limited natural light and constrained ventilation. Creating a space that felt open, welcoming, and conducive to training required more than cosmetic change – it demanded a fundamental rethinking of how the environment performed.

Cachet worked with Collective Wellness as a guide and trusted advisor to provide a seamlessly integrated design and delivery process. However, before construction could begin, key technical constraints needed to be resolved. Poor ventilation and low light levels were addressed through a series of reconfigurations, including the introduction of additional ductwork routed from the basement through to the Level 1 workspace above. These services were carefully integrated and concealed within the upper level, ensuring functionality was delivered without compromising the visual clarity of either space.

The completed training hub is anchored by a purpose-designed auditorium, featuring bespoke joinery that provides tiered seating for group learning and presentations. This central zone flows naturally into a breakout area and adjacent boardroom, allowing the space to shift easily between formal training, informal discussion, and team collaboration.

Importantly, the basement now operates as a distinct yet connected environment – offering Collective Wellness a dedicated training destination removed from the day-to-day activity of the Level 1 workplace. What was once a dark, single-purpose gym has been transformed into a light, adaptable space that supports how the team learns, gathers, and works together.
