Project Director

About the Role

As Project Director, you will take overall accountability for the successful delivery of multiple large-scale, high-value projects across Sydney. You’ll play a pivotal role in setting strategic direction, driving delivery excellence, and ensuring every project aligns with Cachet Group’s vision and commercial objectives.

You will ensure the design and delivery functions operate as one — from concept to completion — aligning every stage with Cachet’s commercial objectives, client vision, and operational standards. This role demands exceptional strategic leadership, commercial insight, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to drive excellence across design development, procurement, and construction delivery.

Responsibilities

As Project Director, you will:

• Provide strategic oversight and leadership across multiple concurrent D&C projects.
• Lead the integration of internal design teams, external consultants, and delivery teams to ensure cohesive, efficient, and commercially aligned outcomes.
• Champion a collaborative design process that balances creativity, constructability, and commercial viability.
• Oversee all design deliverables, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, and client objectives while maintaining program discipline.
• Manage project governance, risk, financial performance, and client relationships across the portfolio.
• Mentor and guide Project Managers, Senior Project Managers, and Design Leads to build capability and accountability across disciplines.
• Work with internal Design Directors to establish and maintain design standards, workflows, and communication protocols.
• Drive early-stage project planning — including feasibility, budgeting, and staging strategies — to support efficient delivery and reduce rework.
• Oversee consultant engagement, fee negotiations, and design coordination to ensure quality, compliance, and value.
• Collaborate with the executive and commercial teams to enhance design efficiency, cost planning accuracy, and margin protection.
• Promote a culture of excellence, innovation, and integration across design, project management, and delivery teams.

About You

You’re a strategic and technically minded leader who understands how great design and disciplined delivery create exceptional project outcomes. You have a proven record leading multidisciplinary teams, balancing creative and commercial priorities, and driving collaboration across internal and external stakeholders.

You will have:

• Minimum 10+ years’ experience in project management, with at least 3 years at a senior leadership or director level within the design and construction industry.
• Demonstrated experience managing both internal design teams and external design consultants.
• Proven success delivering large-scale commercial fit-out or workplace projects from early design through completion.
• Strong understanding of D&C methodology, including cost planning, value management, and buildability.
• Excellent leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional coordination skills.
• Advanced communication, presentation, and negotiation abilities.
• Proficiency in design management and project tools (e.g. Revit, Bluebeam, MS Projects, Asana).
• Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Architecture, Interior Design, or Engineering (preferred).
